Green leaders, green unbelievers

JULIA Gillard has invoked a doomsday-like scenario of metre-high sea level rises and a 2000km southward shift of Australia’s climactic zones as she battles an opposition scare campaign over her proposed carbon tax.

So why is her government paying for these seafront offices for Bob Brown and Christine Milne?

Senators Bob Brown and Christine Milne have consistently warned us of the dangers of a supposed sea level rise brought on by man made global warming:

Bob Brown in 2006 listed “sea level rise” as one of the “10 Climate Crimes”

Christine Milne in 2006: “Rising sea levels and associated storm surges could lead to flooding highly populated regions and massive relocation as occurred after Hurricane Katrina in the US. Food and water shortages, and associated homelessness and displacement are a recipe for civil disorder in our region.”

Bob Brown in 2007: “711,000 Australian homes are within the projected possible range of 6 metre sea level rise this century. In our region, up to 450 million people will be made vulnerable by just a one metre rise. This is a recipe for enormous misery, migration and social chaos.”

Bob Brown in 2009: “The accelerated melting of West Antarctica would, along with Greenland, raise sea levels beyond 1 metre during this century, threatening hundreds of thousands of Australian homes, shops and roads.”

Bob Brown in 2011: “Burning coal is a major cause of global warming. This industry, which is 75% owned outside Australia, should help pay the cost of the predicted more severe and more frequent floods, droughts and bushfires in coming decades. As well, 700,000 seaside properties in Australia face rising sea levels.”

So where is Bob Brown and Christine Milne’s Electorate Office in Hobart?

Here are some photographs. The Greens’ Electorate Office is not just close to the sea it has absolute water frontage. It is in building on a pier – on three sides is water. This is why so many of Brown’s televised press statements (see YouTube example below) have expensive boats in the background. That both Green Senators have a taxpayer funded office on the Hobart waterfront and that they consistently deplore the lack of government action against rising seas is not just astounding hypocrisy but confirms that the opportunistic Greens leaders know their alarmist prattle is just as phoney as we all think it is. By the way, Bob Brown has a house on the coast, "a lovely place", 40 minutes drive from Hobart.
