The Editor of Quadrant Music, Alexander Voltz, has won the symphonic section of the prestigious George Enescu International Competition in Bucharest. The competition’s international jury was chaired by Polish composer Zygmunt Krauze and included Tim Benjamin, Dan Dediu, Adrian Iorgulescu, Doina Rotaru, Pascal Dusapin, Outi Tarkiainen, Jennifer Higdon, Magnus Lindberg and Gerard McBurney, as well as the artistic director of Universal Music – Durand Salabert Eschig, Elsa Vautrain.

This is a notable achievement for Alexander, as the competition is one of the most prestigious of its kind in the world.

This is a notable achievement for Alexander, as the competition is one of the most prestigious of its kind in the world. His winning composition is entitled Dunrossil Elms, taking its name from the heritage-listed elm trees that line Dunrossil Drive, the road leading up to Government House in Canberra. We celebrate this wonderful news with Alexander, and look forward to the performance of his work at next year’s George Enescu Festival.
