Paul Williamson: Easter Change

Easter Change

Homo sapiens emerged unusually clever

perhaps from DNA changes lit by solar flares.

Early cousins faded but left us their genes

as we spread and bred across the earth.

Who could think dry seeds would grow green shoots

or a crawling caterpillar

would be set free as a butterfly

if we had not seen those wonders?

History says the Christ lived two thousand years ago;

a Jewish hill country prophet, who called

us His Body, one with him, preached

love for others and was killed by worldly powers.

To understand the One, Pope Francis says

we should observe the earth around us.

What if the Bible teachings are true

the Son of Man returned to the Father

and lives in all not fully lost?

Surely that could change our spirits’ DNA.

For a culture not to change over time would be a reproach and certainly not a cause for celebration, for it would indicate that there had been no capacity to adapt. Clearly this has not been the case
