Islamism propounds a dichotomous ethical construction for humankind: a glorious destiny for Muslim faithful but death and destruction for all non-believers. Religious convictions, it is argued, enable radical actors to ignore Western laws regarding ethical war behaviour. Yet, Israel as a democratic nation is bound by the just-war theory and is carefully monitored by Western powers
