Not making it up, Robert Gottliebsen in Friday’s Australian (paywalled): “Those without a vaccination certificate will be seen as walking timebombs to be avoided by the vaccinated.” Then there’s Prue MacSween expressing discomfort on Sky News on Thursday evening about sitting on a plane next to an unvaccinated person. And I was unfortunate enough, while watching a movie on one of the free-to-air commercial channels on Friday night, to see three actors of comparative youth sorely struck down with COVID, so we’re told, infected by an unvaccinated Untouchable.
Switch to Saturday morning’s news, effectively now a COVID bulletin. NSW cases 1599; Victoria’s 450; how many are sick enough to require hospitalisation? Who knows? Us underlings, who pay the salary of government officials, have long since been put on a need-to-know basis.
Case numbers have been steadily trending up despite week upon week of border closures, soul-destroying lockdowns, useless masking and pointless curfews. Does this mean that the onerous diktats have failed and will be removed forthwith? Clearly not. Without them, don’t you know, things would have gotten worse.
These are failsafe diktats. Cases go down, they’re working. Cases go up, they’re working. But if that throws you off your centre of balance. There’s more.
The art of gaslighting is going beyond anything Charles Boyer inflicted on Ingrid Bergman. We are being told with a straight face that the unvaccinated pose a threat to the vaccinated. How can that be? They’re vaccinated! They are protected. That’s why they got vaccinated. Why else would they get vaccinated? Yes, I am being driven around the bend. It’s working.
In this case, too, the circumstances stretch gaslighting to a whole new level. This is what we think we know at this stage. The vaccinated can catch the virus and pass it on. The viral load they have is the equal of the viral load of the infected unvaccinated. The advantage of vaccination is not that it gives immunity, like conventional vaccines, but that it cuts down on the incidence of serious disease.
So, Ms MacSween can relax sitting next to the unjabbed on a plane. Whether vaccinated or not, they can pass on the virus to her. However, the hope is that the vaccine is protective and prevents her from being laid low. However, hold on! Suppose she, as a vaccinated person, contracts the virus and passes it on to her unsuspecting fellow traveller who for whatever reason, perhaps because of some medical impediment, has not been vaccinated?
You see where this goes. We are being told in a masterful Goebbels-like exercise in propaganda that the unvaccinated pose a threat to the vaccinated when, in fact, it is precisely the other way around. It is victim-blaming. It was your fault that the mugger struck you from behind. And there’s more.
It has been mooted that the virus by being able to circumvent the vaccine, infect the vaccinated and then jump into a fresh host, might gain a virulence it might otherwise not acquire. This, of course, poses an additional threat to the unvaccinated. The unvaccinated are the victims in this drama. Yet they (we) are described as the villains.
And we’ll soon be outed as villains. “Walking timebombs” even, to be excluded from participating in many aspects of the ordinary business of life. It would be a mistake to think that displaying our unclean state, with some outward symbol, some badge, is completely out of the question. This is Australia 2021.
We’ve experienced capricious authoritarianism, children separated from parents, children prevented from visiting their dying parents, seen police wrestling women to the ground, hand cuffing a pregnant woman in her own home, heard of neighbours dobbing on neighbours and being encourage to. It’s not the Australia we thought we knew. Sadly, I suppose it must always have been there, beneath the surface. The test of the pandemic has brought it out in all of its ugliness.
Finally, you might note, I have avoided the one argument which has superficial substance. Getting vaccinated will lower the strain on hospitals. OK, so will eating less, drinking less, smoking less, sunbaking less, having less casual sex; avoiding ocean swimming, boating in stormy weather, mountain climbing, bush walking, over-strenuous exercise and climbing ladders; driving slower and, in my case, looking more carefully before crossing the road, etc, etc, etc.
Lack of education is paying off amongst the easily led, I see. We have the topsy-turvy logic you spelt out as evidence in chief. The other thing the authorities neglect to do (neglect, now there’s a word that needs to be used more in connection with public officials) is advise of the co-morbidity status of the hospitalised, and the deceased (from and not with Covid), and the ‘case’ fatality rate amongst the critical age bands: below 21, below 51 and above 65.
Alas, not to be the case, that would give the game away.
Last I calculated, the CFR (including an unknown level of the asymptomatic, the unknown or undivulged false positive rate) for under 50s was 0.0008. Scared of that, and you’d be scared of your shadow on a dark night.

Yes indeed. We know how flaky their position is when, in desperation, they resort to the “imagine-how-bad-it (COVID deaths, climate refugees, the planet’s temperature in 2025, 2030, 2050, etc.)-would-have-been-if-we-had-done-nothing”.
Last Thursday or Friday NSW reported nine deaths from COVID. Three of the poor souls were fully vaccinated, three were partly vaccinated and three were not vaccinated at all..

If (perhaps I should say, WHEN) a vaccine “passport” system becomes used much in WA, I am seriously considering making myself a yellow star. Of course, if it’s true that no one can legally inquire into our health status, it would probably be better to make use of that provision. However, I imagine that the way around that will be, “You don’t HAVE to tell us–we’re not making you–but if you DON’T tell us, you can’t enter” this or that. In that case, the yellow star sounds appealing. We may as well align ourselves openly with the right side of history.

One thing. I doubt that the vaccine really protects against severe harm from the vaccine. This is because:
a) there was a change in measurement to make this look so.
As you know, ‘breakthrough’ cases are people who still get covid, even though they have been fully vaccinated. Following CDC advice, as of 1st May, hospitalised and fatal covid cases in the fully vaccinated (breakthrough cases) should be counted in the old-fashioned way of determining the most likely cause of death from any cause. That is good, of course.
BUT, that instruction explicitly applies to ‘breakthrough’ cases! By implication, non-breakthrough cases are still being counted as a positive test, or even as suspected of having covid, where ‘suspected’ can even mean they have been in contact with someone who has been tested positive.
Yes, people die WITH but not FROM covid.
and b) the vaccines make no difference to viral load for the delta variant, so what possible mechanism could there be to reduce the effects???

Great point about a yellow star!!! the analogy is perfect. We who reject the genetic vaccines, the ‘unvaccinated’, are serving the role the Jews played in being victimised, in subjecting the rest of the German citizenry to totalitarian tyranny.

I’m thinking of opening a bar that will only admit the unvaccinated. I’m concerned that the vaccines might be effective enough to suppress symptoms, or that the vaccinated, full of confidence, might ignore them. Either way, they won’t be tested and could be unknowing transmitters of the pesky virus.
In this dream the bar supplies free beer.

Vaccinations for communicable disease I would regard as the major advance in medicine over the last 100 years. The current crop of Covid-19 vaccines all decrease the number of patients dying of a Covid-19 infection. Nothing more needed to convince me.
I am enjoying my retirement after 50 years as a physician and had my second dose in mid July.

Gauleiter perfectly describes our Members of Parliaments. In Nazi Germany the Gauleiter was the leader of the Gau – the region or district. His job was to see that directives, instructions and policies coming down from the Fuehrer were implemented at the local Gau level.
MP’s today have become Gauleiters rather than the Representatives that they are Constitutionally directed to be.
Perhaps, as an alternative to wearing the Star of David on our clothing, we unvaccinated will be issued with bells around the neck so as to sound a warning to the vaccinated, preceded by cries of Unclean! Unclean!
While there are some great public health victories in vaccinations for things like maternal rubella and polio, as well as the virtual eradication of TB by almost universal chest x-raying of the population, there is a difference between previous public health initiatives and the Covid scam.
Firstly, this virus was manufactured in a laboratory and found its way out of the laboratory and into the community. You may draw your own conclusions as to how that happened.
Secondly, the vaccination doesn’t work; it neither stops a person from getting the virus or from transmitting it.
Thirdly, and most importantly, in my 85 years I cannot remember a more intimidating, bullying, deceitful and divisive publicly funded campaign. Something smells about all this; it doesn’t pass the pub test.
Finally, I have lived through many “catastrophes” that didn’t happen – the Future Shock of the sixties which predicted hundreds of millions would die of starvation in the seventies; the “global cooling” crisis of the seventies which envisaged the widespread loss of crops due to a freezing planet; the AIDS crisis of the eighties that would see AIDS become widespread in the heterosexual community; the Millennial Bug, which would see the world come to a stop at midnight December 31st 2000, and more recently, Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming, which, it is announced, will have the same effect as global cooling.

The problem is that the yellow star will likely be taken as a Nazi signal and therefore out lied under recent state legislation.
My thought therefore was that we should look to some bright creative graphic artist to come up with an appropriate symbol and then perhaps an entrepreneur or a group of interested people happily including myself, who would invest in these being manufactured for wider distribution.

I think it is worth pointing out that no vaccine ever saved anyone from anything. They don’t pretend to, do they?
They jolt your immune system into action earlier than it otherwise would have done.
This brings into play facets of the system that otherwise may well have arrived ‘too late’.
If all goes at its best you get an immune system with all aspects primed and ready for any future attack by the virus.
It is not often it works so well. But that’s the idea is it not?
Which means it is your immune system in the end that does the job.
Not the vaccine.
You could otherwise ‘prime’ your immune system, so to speak. By, for instance, ensuring your body is healthy. Some things are known to be detrimental to the immune system. Avoid these. Alcohol, sugar, obesity. And on and on. Deficiency of Vit D. Anxiety. Loneliness. Depression. Fear.
Virtually everything the government is driving you to.
And then there are things which are anti viral and will actually help the immune system. Which, to repeat, vaccines do not do.
Such as monoclonal antibodies. Ivermectin. Hydroxychloroquine. And others we would hear much more about were it not for the govt embargo on truth, science, honesty, free speech.
It is also worth bearing in mind that our very DNA is part virus. The very eukaryotic cell is two bacterium I think.
We’re moving through an environment swarming with bacteria and viruses. There’s viruses raining down from the stratosphere.
My point is that this is our natural environment and it moves, it develops, it progresses evolves and we evolve along with it as part of it.
This vaccine thing has as its goal a race of humans that are divorced from this natural process, natural evolution along with its environment. An artificial human which only evolves as we let it evolve and which is constantly held aloof by the constant ministration of vaccinations.
You may argue not so: the aim is to eliminate just those ‘bad’ diseased entirely and the organism (us) can then continue its evolution in the natural way.
But that isn’t so in practical fact, is it? In a population of 7 billion there’ll always be reservoirs of every known disease and they’ll never be eliminated and the vaccines will always have to be given.
So it is simply the wrong path.
Thanks for a great commentary, Peter. You have articulated all the non sequiturs that infuriate and frustrate those amongst us who have allocated the time and energy to try to investigate what is actually happening.
Of course, it is more than just “sound and fury.” The fault lines in Australian society have become both frightening and saddening. I keep thinking that I am over reacting – surely it is not the dystopian nightmare of the birth of a new authoritarian regime in this land of my birth?
I just don’t know.
