Ready, Acclaim…Fire!

In today’s Nine rags, Mike Foley and Nick Toscano are a bit sad that sales of electric vehicles, despite the hype, are underwhelming:

…car makers warn Australia’s policies to boost EV uptake are lagging behind other nations, reducing the number of models brought into the country and limiting consumer choice.

What Minister for Blackouts Chris Bowen will do to boost EV uptake remains to be seen, but whatever green notion bounces about between his ears might well benefit from watching the clip embedded below. It’s from auto buff John Cadogan, whose commentary on unstoppable battery fires should give any sensible person pause, not least about the danger of combustion-prone EV’s being permitted to park beneath the Opera House or “in the garage under your daughter’s bedroom”.

Sensitive readers are warned that Cadogan’s language can be a bit on the salty side at times.
