Wanted: an indigenous
Theodore Herzl

‘Kvetch’ is a lovely Yiddish word for the whiniest sort of complaining, and it is also the ironic name chosen by Misha Saul for his Substack blog, which is always worth a visit. In a recent post he wonders if Yes-canted Aboriginal leaders, while talking a good game about ‘sovereignty’, actually want, understand and are prepared to shoulder the responsibilities that would go with it.

… it is the job of the righteous Aboriginal nationalist who would claim a land for their people and true sovereignty to prove skeptics wrong and to build a nation.

Former Prime Minister Julia Gillard once asked what it would take to turn Darwin into Singapore. Where is the Aboriginal nationalist ready to build the Aboriginal Israel?
