Harmony Week goes Left

This week an Angela Davis interview was programmed on Radio National’s Late Night Live and promoted like this:

Angela Davis became a prominent figure in the Civil Rights Movement in the United States during the 60s and 70s. She studied in France, Germany and the US, joined the Communist Party, the Black Panther Party, was on the FBI’s top ten most wanted list and spent eighteen months in prison – all before she was thirty. Since then, Angela has been a great advocate for change in the way we perceive prisons, gender and race.

It was the repeat of an interview recorded in March when she was an honoured guest in Perth for “Harmony Week”.

She presented the Chancellors’ Oration at Murdoch University and public lectures “to speak about the ways racism infiltrates our institutions without us realising.”

Her speaking agency advertises that her usual fee is between ten and twenty thousand dollars (US) and that her topics are “Cultural and Historical Studies of Race and Ethnicity”, “Feminist Theory”, “Culture and Ideology”, “Democracy and Civil Engagement”.

The Communism she supported murdered a hundred million people and the Black Panthers were thugs and murderers.

“Harmony Week” was presented by the WA Government’s Office of Multicultural Interests.

I thought you might like to know.

UPDATE: Take a moment to glance over to the left hand side of your screen at the weird advertisements that have popped up. At the moment mine has one advertising Black Panther T-shirts. Only the Left could get away with that.
