Omonia Square, Athens

 Beneath a neon-lit beer glass,

Alternately replenished, drained,

Repeatedly without a pause,

Men shouting about politics

Froth at the mouth and jump around,

Torn as they are between the need

To get a word in edgeways, or

To take a pee, while in doorways

Drunkards awakening see the sign

And topped up pass out blind again.
