Lucky to Have the Opera House

Sir: Events at the time of the assessment, in the 1950s, of the International Architectural Competition for the design of the Sydney Opera House indicate that Australia is extremely lucky to have had Jørn Utzon’s design realised. In the mid-1980s I was a staff member in the Faculty of Architecture, University of New South Wales, and the dean of the faculty was Professor Henry Ingham Ashworth, who had been Chairman of the Opera House Committee.
