The Crusades and Modern Genocide SIR: I wondered how long it would take Robert McLaughlin to drag the Crusades into the case against God. It did not take long, with Mr McLaughlin claiming (Letters, January-February 2011), that they were similar to communism, Nazism and the Inquisition. This is historical rubbish. So overlaid with anti-Christian mythology have the Crusades become that many people are now unaware that they were in fact a limited, defensive reaction to ceaseless Muslim aggression.
