The Photograph of the Charge at Beersheba

On November 2 the Australian carried a report by Patrick Walters headlined “War Memorial photograph not of Light Horse charge”. It was based on a paper by Australian War Memorial historian Dr Jean Bou that was a reply to a double-page spread in the second edition of Ian Jones’s highly regarded A Thousand Miles of Battles: The Saga of the Australian Light Horse in WWI (2007), in which the photograph is treated as genuine.
