SIR: Your article “Gender Diversity in Khaki” (September 2017) confirms the serious misgivings of those who, more than three decades ago, feared placing the study of humanities and social sciences at the proposed new Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) in the hands of the University of New South Wales or, indeed, any other Australian university. Even a cursory review of the way many academies within those universities were teaching Australian history should have sounded alarm bells.
