Swept under the polar bear rug

polar bear rugWhen the next multi-billion dollar green charity updates its legs-in-the-air Top Ten endangered species list, expect polar bears to be on it. They won’t deserve to be, writes zoologist Susan Crockford, who explains the peculiar way head-counts are done beneath the midnight sun. It’s a fascinating read, not least for detailing how science takes a back seat to lobbying, but that’s not really her most surprising revelation. Even more impressive is her incidental account of  warmists’ own goal in swearing blind that a melting Arctic would it make it so difficult for bears to nab seals that ursus maritimus must surely be no more than a few summers away from extinction.

Well, guess what? Going by the numbers Crockford cites, polar bears actually do much worse when the ice is thick. Why? Because seals can’t reach the surface and, being a lot smarter than your typical Greens voter, go elsewhere to raise their pups.
