A town at war
For months now and largely unreported by a media more keen to promote the Voice, the remote Wadeye community has been in a state resembling civil war. What was once the peaceful town of Port Keats has seen more than a hundred homes torched, families driven into the bush and, just recently, bows and arrows figuring in the fighting.

The Society of Jesus mourns the death of Father Gerald (“Gerry”) O’Collins SJ AC. Fr O’Collins died in Melbourne on Thursday 22 August at the age of 93. He had been a Jesuit for 74 years and a priest for 61 years.
