Lock down idiocy at its extreme today. A friend of my sat with her callimari and chips eating alone on a public bench at lunchtime taking comfort from the peaceful harbour view. She was grieving because her mother has just died in America and she was unable to attend the funeral. She was moved on by some officious ‘security’ in the area. You cannot sit, she was told. Apparently, on Friday, the virus is going to have a change of heart and it will be quite safe for her to sit alone on a harbourside bench. But not now, for it is only Tuesday.
