The Lovers

You turned away to read your book
and stung me with a little shock.
You say you want me, then you mock
me; you can stop me with a look,
that is all it ever took.
I am the river and you, the rock.
You turned away to read your book
and stung me with a little shock
but still I’m yearning for your look,
your mind’s a room I must unlock.
Though I hid the tears my body shook.
You turned away to read your book
and stung me with that little shock.
