Saxby Pridmore:
The Bangkok Bombing
“Today, the thoughts of all Australians are with
Those killed or injured in the Bangkok bombing
And with their families,” said the Prime Minister.
Complete bollocks, of course. The majority
Don’t watch the news and the few who do, are
Occupied with their own “issues”, “going forward”.
It went off outside the Erawan Shrine. There are
22 dead but no news of the Hindu four-faced
Brahma statue, which has sat there for a decade.
The last one was smashed to rubble by the Thi
Thanakorn, with a hammer, before he was
Grabbed and beaten to death by worshippers.
When we set off on our bikes this morning, up
Macquarie Street turning into Cascade Road
There were only 19 dead. It’s amazing how lives fly.
We all have a list of things to do (called life). But, yes
Most of us do feel sorry, given the opportunity, for
Innocent victims. Now, I am guilty of not feeling sorry.

Pithed
I’m pithed said the reed
I’m pithed said the helmet
I’m pithed said the frog
I’m pithed said the drunk

To claim Aborigines have the world's oldest continuous culture is to misunderstand the meaning of culture, which continuously changes over time and location. For a culture not to change over time would be a reproach and certainly not a cause for celebration, for it would indicate that there had been no capacity to adapt. Clearly this has not been the case
