Ikebana
Ikebana
Not the flower itself but its patterning
in cosmic space of a room let
it dance on invisible wire delicacy
of cut of placement
lace blossoms together tidy nature
just a little there must be shade
a hint of darkness
but one bud must always point to the sun
eye should rise to a mountain peak
then draw back consider
re-consider the slope follow
the waterfall all the way down
to where a village begins to show itself
emerging from violet declivities
and all suggested
by bend and buckle of branches
a tension where there is no resistance
where past and present gather
and the future
like some as yet unseen flower
begins to bloom softly in the distance.
