Michael Mintrom: ‘I Can’t Quit You Baby’

I Can’t Quit You Baby Students wear masks and dress in black. The MTR’s shut down, roads are blocked. From the Ozone Bar we keep vigil, gazing over Victoria Harbour. Uncertain and afraid up here, tiny gods in this panopticon, we know our history. We know how big rivers join and divide, how ideas survive through eddy and flow. We also know the ways of money. So here we stand, side by side tight lipped, squinting hard, knowing we can’t quit this thing. And democracy’s drifting backwards. Michael Mintrom
