10/5/03 Those old soldiers I happen to like  Cantankerously I have responded to my friend Geoff Page’s “ReVerse” column in the Canberra Times where he colludes with Jonathan Swift’s stereo­typing of the Duke of Marlborough in the former’s poem, “On the Death of a Famous General”. My e-mail ran as follows.   Geoff, Marlborough was not an old style Tory and Swift draws no defence either from this, or anything else in his “Satyrical Elegy”.
