The Beersheba Photo I

In the December edition of Quadrant (“The Photograph of the Charge at Beersheba”) Neil McDonald, assisted by Ian Jones, took issue with the views I expressed in a lecture at the Australian War Memorial regarding a controversial photograph which purportedly shows the 4th Light Horse Regiment charging in battle at Beersheba in 1917. Or more accurately, they seem to have taken issue with what they thought I said, based on the press report which appeared in the Weekend Australian the day after the lecture.
