Welcome to Coombsville

After reading Patrick McCauley’s account of his experiences at Wadeye (Quadrant Magazine, December 2008) I think it would be appropriate to change the name of that place to “Coombsville” – to be a reminder of the horrors which Coombsian doctrine, so slavishly taken up by both sides of politics in Australia, for so long, has unleashed upon two generations of Aboriginal Australians.
