I don’t think like that anymore

Before, every time news of something awful broke, I used to say “Now, they’ll understand. Now they’ll get it.” They never did and I felt awful.

I’ve changed. Now, every time news of something awful breaks, I say “Wait for it. Wait for it.” For I can hear them, above the cries of the dying, rushing to their computers to blame us for killing everyone. And I’m always right – though, strangely, I’m even more unhappy than before.

You see, then I thought we shared something in common called western civilisation. Now I don’t, for standing behind the fundamentalist imam standing behind the man with the gun are the western Left intelligentsia – cheering and taking holiday snaps.
