Sir: Your editorial (Quadrant, October) commendably castigated journalists for their indifference to and negligent coverage of national security matters and their hostile yapping at authorities responsible for investigating Dr Mohamed Haneef, suspected, rightly or wrongly, of association with Islamic terrorists who had just carried out bombings in the UK. However, you surely overreach when you move in your editorial from specifics to a philippic against the honourable profession of journalism.
